1964-1965
Founding of Bry-Air, Inc. and Initial Expansion
Bry-Air was founded in Sunbury, Ohio, in 1964 by Art Harms and partners Jack Whitaker, Bob Bolt, and Tony Montagno. Recognizing the potential of desiccant technology, Art acquired the desiccant dehumidifier line from the Bryant Company. Construction of their Sunbury plant in 1965 established the core of Bry-Air’s manufacturing capabilities.
1966
Setting the Stage
Paul Griesse joined Bry-Air as the sixth employee, bringing new energy and perspectives crucial for the company’s growth. His contributions, along with the leadership of the founding team, propelled Bry-Air to achieve impressive revenue in its first year, reflecting strong market demand and effective solutions.
1975-1979
Global Expansion and Joint Ventures
The Sunbury plant was expanded in 1975 to enhance assembly and electrical capabilities, setting the stage for future technological advancements. In 1978, Bry-Air was introduced to Deepak Pahwa, leading to the establishment of Bry-Air Asia in 1979. This joint venture marked the first U.S. small business corporation to partner with an Indian company, significantly expanding Bry-Air’s global footprint.
1990s
Technological Innovation and Office Expansion
The early 1990s witnessed the introduction of the desiccant rotor technology, revolutionizing the dehumidification process by reducing costs and enhancing efficiency. In 1992, Bry-Air expanded its office facilities to support its growing operations, further solidifying its role as an industry leader.
2019-2022
Battery Dry Room Manufacturing
In 2019, Bry-Air entered the Lithium-Ion battery sector. The company contributed to the design of the iM3NY Gigafactory, launched in 2022, which began production of 15,000 green-credentialed batteries daily, with output projected to increase twentyfold by 2030. The iM3NY plant is the first purely American-made battery plant in the U.S., powered by hydroelectricity and setting new standards for environmental responsibility.
2022-Present
